Wickcliffe Presbyterian Church

Description

The Wickcliffe Presbyterian Church was located in the Central Ward of Newark and was designed by William Halsey Wood. The church was rectangular in plan with the southern portion ending in a semi-circular apse. On the front facade, a heavily rusticated gabled wall with Romanesque windows and a cylindrical tower communicated a medieval image. The roofs for the tower and apse were conical and covered with slate.

Condition History

This church was demolished to make way for the University Heights housing complex. Only the freestanding wall of the front facade was preserved from demolition.
